Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment Launches Youth Xplore App and AgTractive Campaign

The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has launched the Youth Tracker/Youth Xplore App and the AgTractive  Campaign, an initiative designed to coordinate and streamline youth-related services and information nationwide. The digital platform will serve as a central hub to empower Ghanaian youth by providing direct access to job opportunities, employment pathways, and other development resources. The AgTractive  Campaign also aims to make agriculture more appealing and accessible to young people across the country.

Speaking at the launch, Emma Ofori-Agyemang, Chief Director of the Ministry, explained that one of the Ministry’s core mandates is to coordinate youth programmes and harmonize all youth-focused interventions across sectors. She noted that building systems that provide real and measurable opportunities for young people is essential. According to her, the new App was created to consolidate all youth initiatives onto one platform where they can be coordinated, explored, and monitored to track progress in youth development.

The Country Director for AGRA, Ghana, Dr. Betty Annan, highlighted the purpose of the AgTractive  Campaign, stating that it aims to make agriculture more attractive to the Ghanaian youth. She emphasized that agriculture is no longer merely a subsistence activity but a field driven by innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, and vast economic potential. Dr. Annan added that the campaign will connect young people interested in agriculture to support systems and opportunities that will help them grow and succeed in the sector.

The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, cited research from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), which shows that every dollar invested in sustainable agriculture can yield up to $16 in return. He stressed the need for more youth involvement in agriculture to boost national development. Hon. Opare Addo explained that the AgTractive  Campaign encourages young Ghanaians to embrace modern agriculture and innovation.

He further stated that the Youth Tracker/Youth Xplore App is supported by advanced analytics tailored to low-crowd data, labour market trends, regional dynamics, and national priorities. The App does more than store information, it interprets data, provides insights, and informs policy decisions to ensure youth initiatives remain effective and responsive. He emphasized that with this App, opportunities will no longer depend on personal connections, as every young person will have equal access to employment and development pathways.

The Minister called on all stakeholders to unite in support of youth development. He also commended AGRA for its invaluable support in the creation and rollout of the Youth Tracker/Youth Xplore App.
