Okaikwei South MP and Constituents Petition NYA CEO Over Completion of Azumah Nelson Sports Complex

The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South, Hon. Ernest Adomako, together with some constituents, has paid a visit to the National Youth Authority (NYA) to present a petition calling for the completion of the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.

According to Hon. Adomako, the completion of the sports complex was one of his key campaign promises. He emphasized that the project, once completed, would not only promote sports and youth development in the constituency but also create employment opportunities for residents of Okaikoi South.

The MP further assured the NYA that his constituents were ready to clear and prepare the land to facilitate the continuation of construction works. He also pledged to conduct regular site visits to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

In response, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga, Esq., expressed appreciation for the MP’s initiative and concern. He disclosed that out of the ten sports complexes under the Authority’s supervision, two located in the Upper West and Eastern Regions, have already been completed, while the remaining ones are at various stages of completion.

Mr. Ayariga added that the newly created regions would also soon benefit from similar projects. He assured the delegation that H.E. John Mahama is committed to ensuring the timely completion of all the sports complexes across the country.

He noted that work on the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex would resume soon, adding that the petition had reached the appropriate authorities and would be forwarded to the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment and subsequently to the Office of the President, with the hope that it would be included in the 2026 national budget.

Mr. Ayariga concluded by assuring the MP and his constituents that their next visit to the site would be for the commissioning of the completed Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.
