Ashanti Regional NYA and Slamm Foundation Train Over 100 Youth in Cybersecurity
The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the National Youth Authority (NYA), in collaboration with the Slamm Foundation, has successfully organized a five-day intensive cybersecurity training program for over 100 young people. The training, which began on Monday, 6th October, concluded with a brief passing-out ceremony on Friday, 10th October, held under the auspices of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
The initiative aligns with the President’s agenda to equip the youth with practical digital skills to enhance their employability in the fast-growing cyberspace sector.
Certified by ISC2, the training featured both theoretical and hands-on sessions led by Dr. Samuel Boateng, a renowned U.S.-based technologist from the Slamm Foundation. Participants were introduced to core cybersecurity concepts, including phishing, networking, and Cisco technologies, among others.
The Ashanti Regional Youth Director, Mr. George Orwell Amponsah, urged participants to continue building their knowledge and complementing it with essential soft skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. He also encouraged them to take full advantage of NYA’s diverse programs, including voluntary services, mentorship, and internship opportunities, as valuable platforms to gain experience and enhance their career prospects.
Throughout the training, participants demonstrated enthusiasm, confidence, and a strong grasp of the cybersecurity tools and techniques introduced, reflecting the program’s success in fostering digital empowerment among the youth.
