Master Crafts Persons and Apprentices in Volta Region Applaud Government and NYA for NAP
A cross-section of master crafts persons and apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) in the Volta Region have applauded President John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his promise to implement the initiative. They noted that the region has been a consistent pillar in the NDC’s return to power and therefore deserves such transformative policies that directly empower the youth.
Speaking in an interview with corporate affairs officers of the National Youth Authority (NYA) at their induction, the Master Crafts Persons expressed gratitude to the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) for refining their skills and aligning the apprenticeship structure with global standards. One of them, Efo Benson Apedo, noted that in the past their work was often looked down upon, making it seem like their skills were only an option for those who could not progress into the formal system. “The introduction of NAP has changed this narrative, giving our craft the dignity and recognition it deserves,” he stated.
” Anything good and deserving of the government and the CEO of NYA, Mr. Osman Ayariga, and all other institutions who contributed to the three-day rigorous training was done well,” Elizabeth Gbedo stated.
The master craftspeople further pledged to mentor their apprentices with diligence, ensuring that the NAP becomes a model of skill development.
The apprentices on their side described the programme as life-changing, stressing that the combination of technical training, certification, and start-up support would help them build sustainable livelihoods.
