National Youth Festival Launched.
The National Youth Authority (NYA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, has officially launched the 2025 National Youth Festival under the theme “Igniting Potential, Inspiring Change.” The launch event was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga Esq., emphasized that the theme is not just a slogan, but a call to action.
“It embodies the belief that every young Ghanaian possesses untapped potential that, when ignited, can inspire transformative change in their communities and beyond,” he said.
He described the launch as a significant milestone in Ghana's journey toward youth empowerment and national development.
“The National Youth Festival 2025 is more than a celebration; it is an investment in Ghana’s future,” he stated. “When we ignite the potential of our youth, we inspire change that ripples through communities, transforms lives, and propels our nation toward greater prosperity.”
He called on stakeholders and partners to embrace the youth, provide mentorship, create opportunities, and invest in their development. He also outlined the lineup of activities for the month-long festival, which runs from August 1st to 30th.
Key activities will include:
Youth Dialogue with Religious Leaders
Nationwide Clean-up Exercise
National Youth Conference
Health Walk Against Substance Abuse
Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue
Conference on Climate Action and Environmental Sustainability
National Youth Carnival (Grand finale)
Also speaking at the launch, Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, described the festival as both ceremonial and symbolic.
“It is the official ignition of a nationwide celebration of the power, creativity, and boundless potential of young Ghanaians,” he noted.
Although August 12th is globally recognized as International Youth Day, the Minister declared the entire month of August as a time to celebrate the spirit, amplify voices, and advance the aspirations of Ghana’s youth.
“In August, we intend to remind the nation and the world that the Ghanaian youth has pulled up to the table with a permanent seat,” he added. “We are not passive observers. We are active participants in shaping the national agenda.”
He urged talented young people not to see the festival merely as a platform, but as a mirror reflecting their strength, brilliance, hustle, and hope.
The Minister concluded his address by formally declaring the 2025 National Youth Festival officially launched.
The National Youth Festival, held annually in August, is an initiative of the National Youth Authority aimed at celebrating, empowering, and mobilizing the youth of Ghana for national development
