Leadership Is Not About Titles or Positions; It’s About Service – Osman Ayariga Esq.
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga Esq., has emphasized that leadership is not defined by titles or positions but by service, integrity, and the courage to act, especially when it is difficult. He made this remark during his address at the Model Commonwealth Summit 2025, held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The summit’s theme was "Innovation for Humanity: Pioneering Sustainable Development Through New Knowledge."
Mr. Ayariga urged delegates to embody the true essence of leadership, stressing that it is through these values that the Commonwealth can continue to serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for future generations. He further highlighted that the summit represents not only a celebration of unity but also a critical platform for dialogue aimed at finding solutions to pressing global issues such as climate change.
Additionally, Martinson Yeboah, the Executive Director of the Model Commonwealth Summit, noted that the summit is an innovative platform designed to engage young leaders from across the Commonwealth in meaningful discussions and collaborative problem-solving. He encouraged delegates to build stronger bonds and embrace diverse ideas, as this will be instrumental in shaping their ideas and decisions throughout the summit.
The opening ceremony of the 2025 Model Commonwealth Summit featured speeches from several prominent figures, including Carl Appiah, UNESCO Representative to Ghana; Samuel Gyedu-Brefo, Project Manager, TVET; and David Gibbs, Barbados' Resident High Commissioner to Ghana.
The Model Commonwealth Summit aims to raise awareness and engage the youth and citizens of the Commonwealth on the importance of developing solidarity and a common front through the promotion of Commonwealth values and aspirations. It also seeks to foster deeper cooperation among member states to tackle the challenges that affect us all.
