Work Hard to Change the Current Narration of Ghanaian Youth - Minister for Youth and Sports to Youth Sector Working Group

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon.Mustapha Ussif has tasked the Youth Sector Working Group to work assiduously to change the apparent unproductive current situation of the Ghanaian youth.

In a welcome address at a breakfast meeting for the establishment of the Youth Sector Working Group on June 10, 2024, the Hon.Minister mentioned that members' participation and commitment will help build a brighter future for the young people of the country.

He highlighted the Akufo-Addo-led government's unwavering investment and commitment to creating opportunities for the development of young people in the country. He noted that the President's launch of the National Youth Policy in 2022 is a testament to his commitment to youth development as it provides a framework and directions to all stakeholders involved in implementing policies and projects for youth development.

According to him, the purpose of the meeting is embodied in the National Youth Policy and aligns with the African Youth Charter.

In her submission, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Ghana, Rosemary Mbabazi encouraged all development partners to support the ministry and its agencies to make the Youth Sector Working Group a living legacy. She also asked for the inclusion of a Monitoring and Evaluation team to track the progress and effectiveness of the Group.

UNFPA's Country Director's Representative, Dr.Wilfred Ochan pledged his organization's support to ensure that the overarching objective of the Youth Sector Working Group is achieved for the betterment of the Youth. The event took place at the British Council, Accra.
