Embrace Environmental Volunteerism; Join Tree-Planting Exercises – Osman Ayariga Esq.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga Esq., has called on the youth to actively embrace environmental volunteerism by participating in tree-planting exercises and leading recycling initiatives within their communities. According to him, such efforts are vital for youth to become ambassadors for environmental conservation.

Mr. Ayariga made these remarks at the 2025 French Volunteering Day celebration held at Alliance Française in Accra, under the theme: "Volunteering and the Environment: Small Actions for the Planet, Concrete Steps for the Future.

He emphasized the NYA’s unwavering commitment to youth volunteerism, stating, “We believe it is central to our mission to instill a deep sense of patriotism in our young people and contribute significantly to our nation's progress.”

Mr. Ayariga further revealed that the Authority plans to establish School Volunteerism Clubs in Junior and Senior High Schools to nurture the spirit of volunteerism from an early age.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. Telngar Rassembeye, National Representative of France Volontaires in Togo and Ghana, highlighted the importance of this year’s theme. He explained that it aims to showcase volunteer missions that have direct or indirect environmental impact, while amplifying the voices of those engaged in ecological transition. He expressed hope that the celebration would inspire more people to support and promote the work of volunteers in protecting the environment.

The event brought together representatives from the French Embassy in Ghana, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, and the Office of the Volta Regional Minister.
